Position Summary:
Join the Kamloops Symphony Orchestra + Music School to gain hands-on experience in marketing and communications within a professional arts organization. This entry-level role focuses on creating social media, email, and paid media assets for the upcoming 2026/27 season, giving students practical experience in campaign preparation, content creation, and audience engagement.
Key Responsibilities:
· Assist in designing and preparing paid media assets (social graphics, banners, video clips) for the 2026/27 season campaigns
· Create and schedule organic social media content promoting concerts, community programs, and educational initiatives
· Capture photos and short videos at rehearsals or events to support marketing campaigns
· Assist with email newsletter preparation and distribution
· Maintain and organize digital media assets for future use
· Track basic engagement metrics and report to supervisor
· Contribute to brainstorming sessions for season marketing campaigns
Learning Outcomes:
· Hands-on experience in marketing, including social media management and paid media asset preparation
· Practical skills in graphic design, photography, video editing, and digital asset organization
· Understanding of campaign planning and audience engagement
· Exposure to marketing operations in a nonprofit arts organization
Deliverables:
· Paid media assets ready for the 2026/27 season
· 2–3 social media posts per week, including graphics or photos
· Event photo/video albums ready for marketing use
· Weekly engagement summaries for supervisor
Community Impact:
Support the Kamloops Symphony Orchestra + Music School in connecting with local audiences and building excitement for the 2026/27 season, contributing to vibrant community engagement in Kamloops and surrounding areas.
Support the Kamloops Symphony Orchestra + Music School’s education and community programs by assisting with the Summer Music Academies, Kids Concerts, and Tiny Tots programs. This role provides hands-on experience in program coordination, school outreach, and youth engagement, ideal for students interested in music education, arts administration, or community programming.
· Assist with planning and preparation for the Summer Music Academies (materials, scheduling, camp logistics)
· Support the development and delivery of Kids Concerts and Tiny Tots programs, including rehearsal and event prep
· Help coordinate communication with local school music teachers to promote programs and gather feedback
· Assist with administrative tasks: student registration, resource organization, attendance tracking
· Capture photos and short videos for program documentation and marketing purposes
· Participate in team meetings and contribute ideas for program improvements
· Practical experience in music education program coordination
· Exposure to planning and running youth-oriented arts programs
· Skills in community engagement and school outreach
· Understanding of nonprofit program administration
· Program materials prepared for Summer Music Academies, Kids Concerts, and Tiny Tots programs
· Completed communication plan or outreach summary for local school music teachers
· Event support ensuring smooth program delivery
· Photo/video documentation for program use

Historically, this has been accomplished through the presentation of nine to ten annual programs, and up to eighteen performances in Kamloops and Salmon Arm.
