Our perpetually popular semi-annual fundraiser, Barb's Used Book & Music Sale, is returning as a summer pop-up sale. The sale, which will be a smaller version of the usual edition, will be held in our offices and music school, located at 6-510 Lorne Street, across the courtyard from the historic CNR Heritage Station in Station Plaza. This sale will be taking place on Wednesdays through Saturdays in August running from 10 am to 5 pm, starting August 12th.

Out of respect for all customers and the volunteers who will be staffing the sale, we want to ensure the safest possible environment for all. As such, COVID-19 restrictions and procedures will be in place:

  • Masks will be required
  • There will be a limit of 10 shoppers in the building at a time
  • Each shopper will have a maximum of 30 minutes in the store
  • The layout of the sale will promote a one-way path through the building
  • Cashless transactions are encouraged
  • Shoppers are welcome to bring their own bags, however they will be required to bag their own books

Owing to the smaller space for this sale, a carefully curated selection of gently used books, sheet music, vinyl records, DVDs, and CDs will be on sale, with prices starting at $2 per item. These fantastic prices make it very easy for shoppers to stock up on summer reading or to find great gifts for their loved ones. Gift certificates are available to purchase online.

Volunteers will be unable to accept any donations at this time due to limited space in our offices. We greatly appreciate these generous donations and are working to establish a donation period in the future.

Running consistently since 1997, the sale was spearheaded by Barb Corbishley who was one of the KSO’s board members at the time. After her passing, it was renamed Barb’s Used Book & Music Sale in her honour. All money raised by the sale goes towards the Kamloops Symphony’s operating expenses, which include everything from concert productions to educational programs.
